Types Of PC Processors: Which One To Choose For Companies?

In recent years, the supply of different types of processors for PCs has increased. Knowing how to choose the best option can be a detail that will make all the difference in optimizing work in a business environment.

The following article details the processors’ function and their types and tips on choosing the best model for your company.

What Is The Processor, And What Is It For?

The processor is an essential component of computers and is related to speed at work, using data and programs. The main difference between the existing types is the performance power for different functions.

Powerful processors work with a large volume of data for several hours without slowing down the machine.

One processor is more suitable than the other depending on the company’s operational needs, which includes the choice of software and other activities according to the workstation’s objectives. There are no better or worse types of processors but those best suited for specific functions.

Intel and AMD processors are popular in business computers. Let’s learn a little about the characteristics of each of them and what you should take into consideration to select the right product according to your computing demands.

Types Of Intel Processors

Processors must be chosen based on the company’s priorities.

These processors are popular because some versions are available at lower prices for essential performance and are used in everyday operations that do not require extensive work with data every second.

There are versions of Intel processors with more capacity than the conventional standard. Still, these are available at higher prices and must be installed in computers with specific components.

Check out a list of the main types of Intel PC processors:

  • Intel QUARK SOC
  • Intel ATOM
  • Intel ITANIUM
  • Intel XEON
  • Intel CELERON
  • Intel PENTIUM
  • Intel CORE

If you consider computers for companies, the most used Intel processors are of two lines: Intel CORE for computers and notebooks and Intel XEON for servers and workstations.

Intel Processors For Business Computers

See the characteristics of the two Intel Core PC processors commonly used in business computers and see if they are helpful for your machine’s needs.

i9 Processor: It is the most recent release of the Intel Core line. Because it is an expensive option, it is still only used by hobbyists or those needing high processing power. It is a novelty for now, but it will soon be the market standard.

The i9 processor stands out for its 260GB RAM and superior performance for sharing information with different video or audio programs. Furthermore, it can keep the PC turned on for several hours at a time without freezing or slowing down operations.

i7 Processor: It is characterized by working with RAM of up to 64GB, numbers valid for companies that use various professional programs, and also needs to always access the internet without running a significant risk of the computer crashing while running the software. This choice is for machines from companies that do not work with many audiovisual files but that frequently develop spreadsheets or text files.

i5 processor: The i5 processor is designed to meet the demands of the mid-range market that performs heavier daily tasks and is available in two- and four-core models. Furthermore, the i5 line has shared cache memory of up to 8 MB and an integrated DDR controller.

i3 Processor: The Intel i3 has slightly less processing power than the i7 and i5. However, the Hyper-Threading feature allows it to simulate the existence of more cores, improving its performance. It is suitable for less demanding CPU lines and has a 4 MB shared cache memory and support for up to 1,333 MHz RAM.

Core 2 Duo Processor: Intel’s Core 2 Duo processor has two cores and can still be found on the used car market. As it is older, it is recommended for tasks that require little processing power, such as issuing notes, customer service software, and even as an alternative to dumb terminals.

Another alternative processor type for corporate PCs is the Intel Xeon line, emphasizing the Xeon E3 version. This version is dedicated to companies that work with applications requiring excellent graphic reproduction, featuring advanced thermal dissipation, and which do not efficiently heat machines connected for several hours at a time. Xeon processors are found in workstations and servers.

AMD Processors For Corporate Computers

The AMD line is famous for offering different types of PC processors with essential performance and generally below-average prices. They are helpful for businesses that want to save money and are not as demanding on data processing.

Two of the AMD processor versions that are worth it for companies are A-series and Ryzen.

A-Series: Intended for installation in notebooks due to low energy consumption requirements.

Ryzen: Ideal processor for sectors that need to multitask with different types of software and small, medium, or large files, offering superior performance at popular prices.
